Hands-Free Movie Control on Windows — From Bed or Sofa

Control Your Movies with Your Voice — From Bed or Sofa

Offline. Private. Hands-Free.

If you watch movies on a Windows PC connected to a monitor or TV, you already know the problem: getting up for pause, volume, subtitles, fullscreen, or the next movie breaks the experience.

Smart Home Cinema turns your Windows PC into a hands-free, voice-controlled movie setup — without touching the keyboard or mouse.

You can use it through the Local Voice Edition with a PC microphone, or through the Voice Assistant Edition with Alexa / Google Assistant and TriggerCMD.

Everything runs locally on your PC.
No cloud playback control.
No tracking. No subscriptions.

What Smart Home Cinema is (and what it isn’t)

Smart Home Cinema is not a streaming service and it is not a new media player. It is a local control layer that automates the movies you already have on your PC.

For a broader comparison with tools and media systems such as VoiceAttack, Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, and Kodi, see this voice-control comparison for Windows movie playback.

Your movies stay on your drives. Your folders remain yours. Smart Home Cinema simply adds voice control and automation on top.

Designed for comfort

  • watching from bed or sofa
  • Windows PC connected to a TV
  • hands-free control at a distance
  • distraction-free movie nights without ads or recommendations
  • accessibility and reduced-mobility use cases

Offline-first: local playback, local automation

Movie playback and automation run locally. Smart Home Cinema does not upload, scan, or stream your files.

Depending on the edition, either a voice assistant or the PC microphone with the Local Voice Engine is used only to recognize supported spoken commands. Playback control itself runs on your PC.

Do I need a specific media player?

Smart Home Cinema currently supports VLC Media Player and PotPlayer on Windows.

True voice control requires deep integration with the media player. Most default players do not expose the automation capabilities needed for reliable, hands-free control.

If you want full voice control, switching to VLC or PotPlayer is a simple and free choice. Both players are widely used, easy to install, and fully supported by Smart Home Cinema.
