Jellyfin Server continues to manage your media library and playback. Smart Home Cinema runs on your Windows PC and sends voice-triggered commands to the Jellyfin app on your selected TV.
Your movies and episodes remain inside your own Jellyfin setup.
Smart Home Cinema is not a streaming service. It does not provide movies, host your media library or upload your collection to Smart Home Cinema servers.

Voice recognition runs locally on your computer. You do not need Alexa, Google Assistant or TRIGGERcmd.
For voice control from another room, use a wireless microphone system with a receiver connected to your Windows PC.

Different Jellyfin clients expose different remote-control capabilities.
The core playback workflow, Movie List, numbered movie slots and active-TV selection are supported across the four supported platform families. Some additional controls vary by client.
Other Jellyfin TV clients may also work fully or partially, but we have not yet validated them. Use the 14-day free trial to verify compatibility with your setup.

1. Install and Connect
Install the Jellyfin edition that matches your preferred control method, then connect Smart Home Cinema to your Jellyfin Server.
2. Choose Your TV
Scan for active Jellyfin TV clients, save up to four TVs and select the one you want to control.
3. Prepare Your Movie List
Create your Smart Home Cinema Playlist and add the movies or episodes you want to access quickly.
4. Say the Command
Open Movie List
Your selected TV displays the numbered list. From there, start the movie you want with a simple voice command.

Designed for Your Own Media and Home Network
Your movies remain inside your own Jellyfin environment. Smart Home Cinema does not upload your library to its own servers.
Your Jellyfin Server URL and API key are configured locally on your Windows PC.
With Local Voice Edition, voice recognition also runs locally on your computer.
With Voice Assistant Edition, voice commands from Alexa or Google Assistant reach Smart Home Cinema through TRIGGERcmd.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Smart Home Cinema replace Jellyfin?
No.
Jellyfin Server and the Jellyfin TV app continue to manage your library and playback. Smart Home Cinema adds voice control.
Do I need Alexa or Google Assistant?
Only for Voice Assistant Edition.
Local Voice Edition uses your Windows PC microphone and offline local voice recognition.
Do I need TRIGGERcmd?
Only for Voice Assistant Edition.
Local Voice Edition does not use TRIGGERcmd.
Does Voice Assistant Edition require a paid TRIGGERcmd subscription?
Not necessarily.
TRIGGERcmd Free can be used for setup, testing and occasional commands, but it is limited to one executed command per minute. For unrestricted day-to-day use, a TRIGGERcmd subscription is recommended.
TRIGGERcmd is a third-party service with its own pricing and plan conditions. Smart Home Cinema itself does not require a recurring subscription. Local Voice Edition does not use TRIGGERcmd.

Do I need to purchase a separate Jellyfin license?
No.
One Smart Home Cinema license gives you access to both the VLC / PotPlayer package and the Jellyfin package on your licensed PC.
Can Jellyfin Server run on another device?
Yes.
Smart Home Cinema runs on Windows, but Jellyfin Server may run on the same PC or on another reachable device in your network.
Can I use a NAS?
Yes.
The standard local setup is recommended for most users. Advanced users may use a writable SMB network share or NAS folder for the Smart Home Cinema Command Center.
Can I control multiple TVs?
You can configure up to four Jellyfin TVs and select one active target at a time.
Does every command work on every TV platform?
No.
Jellyfin clients expose different capabilities. Check the compatibility table for the exact commands supported by your TV platform.
Is Roku supported?
No.
The current Jellyfin Roku client does not expose the capabilities required by Smart Home Cinema.
